One chemistry. Four markets. Made in Kota.
Jonakshi Industries is a Kota-based chemical group. Through its subsidiary Jonakshi Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. it manufactures zinc sulphate monohydrate for crop nutrition, is qualifying the same molecule for pharmaceutical and feed use, supplies industrial acids and technical grades, and serves export customers from Rajasthan.
Four businesses, one plant, one quality system.
Zinc sulphate can serve a farmer, a feed mill, a pharmaceutical formulator and a galvanizer — but each market has its own specification, paperwork and licence. We run them as separate businesses and are transparent about where each one stands.

How the group is organised
Jonakshi Industries is the group identity. Jonakshi Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. is the subsidiary that owns the Digod plant, holds the licences and signs the contracts. The four businesses operate as divisions of that company.
Product and grade architecture
The same crystal, four specifications. Each grade is released against its own standard, and the batch Certificate of Analysis is the governing document for any shipment.
| Grade | Reference standard | Key limits | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| AgriculturalCrop Nutrition | IS 15848:2025 / Fertiliser Control Order 1985 | Zn ≥33% · Pb, Cd, Fe, Cu, Mg and water-insolubles within FCO limits · pH of 5% solution ≥4.0 · powder or granules | Supplying |
| TechnicalIndustrial Chemicals | Customer specification / contract standard | ZnSO₄·H₂O ≥98% typical · assay and impurity limits agreed per customer · TDS and SDS supplied | Supplying |
| FeedPharma Ingredients | FCC / EU feed-additive limits as applicable | Zn ≥35% · Pb ≤10 ppm · Cd ≤10 ppm · As ≤1 ppm · Hg ≤1 ppm · heavy-metal traceability from raw material | Qualifying |
| PharmacopoeialPharma Ingredients | IP / USP zinc sulfate monohydrate monograph | Assay 99.0–100.5% · Pb ≤3 ppm · Cd ≤1 ppm · As ≤1 ppm · Hg ≤0.1 ppm · Se ≤0.003% | Qualifying |
"Qualifying" means the target specification has been adopted and process, analytical and licensing work is under way. Material is not sold as feed or pharmacopoeial grade until released batches conform and the applicable licence is in place.
Industrial chemicals also supplied
Acids are supplied against customer specification in drums, IBCs and tankers. Ask for the current TDS and SDS.
How it is made
A five-stage sulphuric-acid route at the Digod plant. Metal impurities are removed chemically before crystallization, which is what lets one line serve both agricultural and higher-purity grades.
Acid leaching
Zinc-bearing raw material is fed slowly into a digester of dilute sulphuric acid under agitation, producing an aqueous zinc sulphate solution.
Filtration
The suspension is filter-pressed to remove insoluble residue. Most lead stays in this cake, which is washed and sent for authorised disposal.
Purification
Hydrogen peroxide oxidizes iron so it precipitates as hydroxide; zinc dust cements out cadmium and copper. Both are filtered off.
Crystallization
The clean liquor is concentrated by evaporation, then cooled under continuous stirring to grow zinc sulphate crystals.
Centrifuge & drying
Crystals are separated from mother liquor, dried to the monohydrate, screened and packed by grade.
The pharma programme
Zinc sulphate monohydrate is the active ingredient in the 20 mg dispersible zinc tablets that WHO and UNICEF recommend alongside ORS for childhood diarrhoea, and it carries monographs in the Indian, US and European pharmacopoeias. That makes it a real second market for our plant — one we are entering deliberately.
The gap between agricultural and pharmacopoeial grade is mostly heavy metals: lead and cadmium limits are roughly a thousand times tighter. We are closing that gap at the raw-material end (assay-linked purchasing of low-lead, low-cadmium zinc ash), in the process (cementation and re-crystallization) and in the laboratory (ICP-OES elemental impurity testing).
We will only call material "IP grade" or "USP grade" once released batches conform to the monograph and the required manufacturing licence is in place. Until then, prospective formulator customers are welcome to audit the programme and receive development samples.
Milestones
- Adopt IP/USP monograph as the release specification and validate test methods
- Qualify low-heavy-metal raw material sources with third-party lot COAs
- Produce and characterise development batches; establish elemental-impurity profile (ICH Q3D)
- Product classification and licensing opinion from the state drug regulator; premises assessed against revised Schedule M
- Customer audits and first commercial pharmacopoeial-grade supply
Quality you can audit
Every batch is tested, numbered and documented, and the paperwork travels with the material.
Batch testing
Zinc content, assay, pH, water-insoluble matter and heavy metals are checked on every batch before release against the grade's standard.
Certificate of Analysis
Each dispatch carries a batch-specific COA. Technical and safety data sheets are available for every product.
Raw-material traceability
Zinc ash is bought against a written spec with lot COAs. Finished-goods COAs are filed with their raw-material COAs so heavy-metal provenance can be shown to any buyer.
Clean process
Iron, cadmium, copper and other metal impurities are removed chemically before crystallization rather than blended down afterwards.
Samples first
Pre-shipment samples are provided for buyer qualification before the first commercial order.
Customer audits
Buyers are welcome to visit the Digod plant and inspect the process, laboratory and packing line.
Jonakshi Global
Manufacturer first, exporter second. The export desk handles international enquiries for every division and sources raw material from overseas processors when domestic supply is short.
Where we ship
Zinc-deficient soils and micronutrient programmes in Africa, South and South-East Asia and the Middle East; feed and industrial buyers worldwide. Containers move from Kandla and Mundra, about 12 hours by road from the plant.
Documentation
COA, SDS (GHS), technical data sheet, certificate of origin, HS classification support and destination-specific paperwork. FOB, CFR or CIF terms as agreed.
Sourcing
We buy zinc ash and dross from authorised processors in India and abroad on assay-linked contracts, with pre-shipment inspection and lot-by-lot heavy-metal certification.
A Kota group built by people who already run plants.
Jonakshi Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated in March 2022 to manufacture chemicals in the Kota region. The promoters bring long experience in mining, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, and have set up a dedicated zinc sulphate unit on company-owned land at Girdharpura.
Kota sits on the Chambal, on the Delhi–Mumbai rail and road corridors, surrounded by some of India's most intensively farmed land and by established fertilizer and chemical industry — DCM Shriram and Chambal Fertilisers among them. Raw-material access, logistics and a farming customer base at the doorstep are why the plant is here.
